Unitika to end nonwovens business and focus on films and polymers businesses




SHANGHAI, January 16, 2025-

Some Chinese news outlet reported that Japanese functional materials manufacturer Unitika has recently announced to end its textiles and nonwovens business. The company is planning to sell the textile and nonwoven business segment. According to Unitika, its textile and nonwoven business accounted for about 40% of the total sales. Its annual capacity of polyester spunbond nonwoven and spunlace nonwoven was about 30,000 tonnes.

In the future, Unitika will focus on the films and polymers businesses, which are growing in a remarkable manner, especially in the southeast Asian market, according to the company.
