Unicharm announced at end of 2024 that Unicharm and Toyota Tsusho and its group company CFAO Kenya will commence production and sales of sanitary napkins in Kenya from January 2025. At the beginning of this month, China National Household Paper Industry Association (CNHPIA) also reported that Unicharm expects to generate $13 million in sales by 2026 in Africa, which sells its Sofy hygiene products in Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire and Kenya of Africa. The products are supplied by an Egyptian plant of Unicharm.
According to Unicharm, the two companies aim to combine their strengths – Unicharm's nonwoven fabric and absorbent processing and molding technologies, and Toyota Tsusho's local network and experience – to deliver new value in regions where the use of sanitary products is not widespread.
