The world's first 100% fiber-to-fiber biorecycled garment unveiled by CARBIOS, On, Patagonia, PUMA, PVH Corp. and Salomon
CLERMONT-FERRAND, France , October 29, 2024-
CARBIOS, (Euronext Growth Paris: ALCRB), a pioneer in the development and industrialization of bio-based technologies to reinvent the life cycle of plastics and textiles, and its partners in the Fiber-to-Fiber Consortium On, Patagonia, PUMA, Salomon, and PVH Corp. (Calvin Klein), unveil the world's first garment made from enzymatically recycled polyester from 100% textile waste with CARBIOS' biorecycling technology. While most recycled polyester today comes from PET bottles and only 1% of fibers are recycled into new fibers, this technological feat is helping to advance the circularity of the textile industry. This collective success marks an important milestone in achieving the consortium's ultimate goal of demonstrating the viability of a closed-loop "fibre-to-fibre". This common goal is achieved through the implementation of CARBIOS' biorecycling process on an industrial scale, and is a significant step forward in the textile industry's transition to a circular economy.
An unusual journey...
