Rayonier AM to exit commodity DP at Fernandina Beach, produce 100% fluff at Jesup Line C




SAN FRANCISCO, November 21, 2023-

Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM) is exiting commodity viscose dissolving pulp (DP) production at its 171,000 tonnes/yr Fernandina Beach, FL, mill and pivoting to cellulose specialty grades in 2024, Fastmarkets’ PPI Pulp & Paper Week reported on Nov. 17. In fluff pulp, RYAM plans to continue producing 100% fluff on Line C at its Jesup, GA, mill.

RYAM’s Fernandina mill currently makes 65% cellulose specialties and 35% commodity DP, according to an investor relations (IR) presentation. Next year, the facility will swing all its installed DP production capacity to cellulose specialties.
