North Carolina’s Uniquetex is among the many Chinese companies aggressively adding capacity
CLOVERDALE, CA, May 10, 2018-
China’s Uniquetex made big news in May 2016 when it was reported by Nonwovens Markets to be the first mainland Chinese company planning to build a nonwovens plant in the United States. The company is now in the process of starting up a spunbond unit and a spunmelt machine at its plant in Grover, North Carolina, expecting to finish the startup over the next two months.
Uniquetex is one of a number of Chinese companies currently adding capacity, although it is the only one that has been reported to be expanding overseas. At the same time, more than a half-dozen Chinese firms told delegates at last month’s CIDPEX show in Nanjing they are adding either nonwovens lines or converting capacity.
