TOKYO, Japan, November 11, 2024-

For the first half of fiscal 2024 (Apr 1-Sept. 30), Mitsui Chemicals sales revenue increased by 8.1% year on year to 890.4 billion yen ($5.8 billion). Operating income before special items grew by 25.6% year on year to 52.8 billion yen. Operating income surged by 47.2% to 14.8 billion yen. Net income attributable to owners of the parent after accounting for income taxes and non-controlling interests increased by 7.5% to 22.2 billion yen.

Sales revenue of the life & healthcare solutions segment (which includes its nonwoven fabrics business) increased by 19 billion yen year on year to 138.1 billion yen and comprised 16% of total sales. Operating income before special items grew by 4.5 billion yen to 15.7 billion yen. Sales of the nonwovens business rose due to business integration.
