TOKYO, May 9, 2024-

Kao released its earnings results for the first quarter of 2024 on May 8. From January 1 to March 31, Kao net sales rose 5.2% year on year to 365.8 billion yen ($2.3 billion). Operating income jumped 201.7% to 22 billion yen. Income before income taxes increased 193.4% to 24.8 billion yen. Net income up 222.6% to 17.3 billion yen. Profit attributable to owners of parent grew 241.9% to 16.5 billion yen.

The hygiene and living care segment includes its businesses of sanitary napkins, baby diapers, laundry detergents, fabric treatments, kitchen cleaning products, house cleaning products and paper-based cleaning products. During the first quarter, net sales of this business grew 4.9% to 119.4 billion yen. Operating income rose 10.5 billion yen to 13.1 billion yen.
