TOKYO, August 8, 2024-

Kao released its earnings results for the first half of 2024 (January 1-June 30, 2024) today. Kao's net sales achieved a year-on-year increase of 6.7% to 787.99 billion yen ($5.4 billion). Operating income jumped by 123.7% to 57.94 billion yen. Income before income taxes rose by 124.9% to 64.41 billion yen. Net income grew by 152.8% to 44.82 billion yen. Profit attributable to owners of parent increased by 161.1% to 43.41 billion yen.

The hygiene and living care segment includes its businesses of sanitary napkins, baby diapers, laundry detergents, fabric treatments, kitchen cleaning products, house cleaning products and paper-based cleaning products. During the period under review, net sales of this business grew by 4% to 255.6 billion yen. Operating income rose by 13.3% to 33.9 billion yen.
