JNC to launch production of nonwoven fabric for masks & production of masks




TOKYO, Japan, November 17, 2020-

JNC Corporation (HQ: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO & President : Keizo Yamada) announced in the end of July that it has decided to commence production of meltblown nonwoven fabric for face masks at Moriyama Factory of JNC Fibers Corporation (HQ: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President : Hiroyuki Shibata; hereinafter referred to as "Moriyama Factory"), a subsidiary of JNC Corporation, and nonwoven fabric masks at Ichihara Factory of JNC Petrochemical Corporation (HQ: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President : Susumu Asano hereinafter referred to as "Ichihara Factory"), another subsidiary of JNC Corporation, for the purpose of contributing to the stable supply of nonwoven masks. Sales of the mask and the meltblown nonwoven fabric are expected to be launched in October and November respectively.

Moriyama Factory will produce meltblown nonwoven fabric with a virus-collecting function necessary for masks by redesigning the existing facility producing meltblown nonwoven fabric in order to meet the rapidly increasing demand for raw materials for mask production. After being put into operation, the output capacity of meltblown nonwoven can supply production of 4.4 million pieces of masks per month.
