Georgia-Pacific to idle Alabama, Mississippi fluff and SBSK pulp mills for maintenance




SAN FRANCISCO, March 10, 2022-

Georgia-Pacific (GP) plans to idle its Alabama River and Leaf River fluff and southern bleached softwood kraft (SBSK) market pulp mills in the US South for regularly scheduled maintenance work, Fastmarkets’ PPI Pulp & Paper Week reported.

Atlanta-headquartered GP shut down its 901,000 tonnes/yr Alabama River mill for for two weeks of regularly scheduled maintenance work in late February, industry sources told P&PW. The downtime will shed an estimated 34,500 tonnes of fluff and market SBSK production from its supply.
