Georgia-Pacific cuts fluff pulp supply to Asia, International Paper to hike fluff in February




SAN FRANCISCO, January 17, 2025-

Georgia-Pacific’s (GP) production slowback at its Brunswick, GA, 951,000 tonnes /yr fluff pulp mill due to mechanical problems continued said Pulp & Paper Week, Dec. 6, p. 2. Brunswick had a “difficult startup” after taking maintenance downtime in late October to finish tie-ins on a boiler project, P&PW learned.

Since then, it’s operated at around 70% of capacity with some weeks higher and some lower, contacts said. GP informed customers in China that it won’t have an allocation of fluff for the entire first quarter, market participants told P&PW. In Japan, GP said that it won’t provide an allocation of fluff pulp, contacts said.
