Consultant Pricie Hanna’s formulation of the two key drivers of the spunlaid sector – competitive differentiation at a competitive cost – could serve as a description of the themes underlying the whole Hygienix 2017 conference, organized in early November in Austin, Texas by nonwovens industry association INDA.
Speakers and delegates alike realized that some parts of the absorbent disposable hygiene market are clearly no longer growing rapidly. But rather than go into a defensive crouch that sacrifices product development to cost containment, speaker after speaker talked about efforts to introduce new materials and new ways of combining them. And the pathway to a more sustainable marketplace was not ignored either.
