Essity shuts Tawd tissue paper mill in the UK due to lower paper demand
BRUSSELS, September 2, 2024-
Essity closed its Tawd mill in the UK on September 1 due to decreased paper demand, the company told Fastmarkets RISI. The firm’s Manchester converting plant will now be furnished with Through Air Dried (TAD) tissue paper produced by the the integrated tissue mill in Manchester and from the Prudhoe mill. The Tawd paper mill used to produce 30,000 tonnes/yr of TAD tissue paper, according to Fastmarkets RISI’s Asset Database.
Essity also closed PM 1 at its Oakenholt mill in January 2024. PM 1 could produce 22,000 tonnes/yr of tissue paper.
