Domtar lifts fluff, paper-grade pulp capacity at Arkansas mill by 70,000 tonnes/yr
SAN FRANCISCO, June 10, 2020-
Domtar has raised its fluff and southern bleached softwood kraft (SBSK) capacity at its Ashdown, AR, pulp and paper mill by about 70,000 tonnes/yr, with the new output focused on fluff in recent months, Fastmarkets RISI’s PPI Pulp & Paper Week reported.
The additional fluff and SBSK capacity comes after Domtar permanently closed a paper machine (PM) line at the Ashdown mill in October 2019. The capacity swing is permanent, and lifts Domtar’s total market pulp capacity to approximately 1.9 million tonnes/yr at its mills in the US and Canada, industry contacts told P&PW.
