SHANGHAI, January 17, 2025-

China National Bureau of Statistics released on January 17 that China’s newborn population of 2024 was 9.54 million, up by 520 thousand compared with 2023 (2023: 9.02 million). The 2024 birth rate was 6.77‰. Total population of China has been 1,408.28 million until the end of 2024, dropped by 1.39 million compared with 2023.

The female population of China is 689.19 million and the male population is 719.09 million. The population aged over 60 accounts for 22% of the total population. The population aged over 65 accounts for 15.6% of the total population.
