CARBIOS and Nouvelles Fibres Textiles cooperate to develop the French industrial sector for the recycling of polyester textiles

CLERMONT-FERRAND, France , July 25, 2024-

CARBIOS (Euronext Growth Paris: ALCRB), a pioneer in the development and industrialization of biological technologies to reinvent the life cycle of plastics and textiles, and Nouvelles Fibres Textiles, a French company specializing in the recovery of end-of-life textiles, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Intent to establish a contract for the supply of polyester textiles for the world's first PET biorecycling plant under construction in Longlaville, France. The polyester textiles supplied will be made from used or end-of-life textiles prepared in France by Nouvelles Fibres Textiles for recycling by CARBIOS' enzymatic depolymerization technology.  This contract will make it possible to redirect 5000 tons per year of these textiles towards biorecycling from 2026 over an initial period of 5 years, which testifies to the commitment of industrial players throughout the value chain to achieve the ambition of textile circularity for a more virtuous textile sector.

"CARBIOS is known as a biotech company, but we are also a company in the textile industry. We actively collaborate with innovative companies such as Nouvelles Fibres Textiles to create a true circular economy for textiles. As has been demonstrated in the packaging sector, the introduction of large-scale polyester recycling solutions will catalyze the structuring of collection and preparation infrastructure. Together, Nouvelles Fibres Textiles and CARBIOS demonstrate that the French sector continues to develop thanks to the essential complementarity between the different links in the chain, from collection to preparation and recycling."
