'Great Pivot' by nonwovens firms in 2020 brought key tools to fight against COVID-19

WILMOT, NH, May 6, 2021-

Nonwovens capacity expansions being put in place in North America during the 2020-22 time period represent a relatively large volume number, to be sure. However, rather than saddling the industry with a lot of capacity it won't need, it really represents the acceleration of a normal amount of expansion. In other words, the capacity that is being added doesn't greatly exceed the amount of demand growth that can be expected over the next several years – it just moves the needed capacity additions forward in time.

That is an underlying message that came out of a webinar conducted last month by INDA Director of Market Intelligence & Economic Insights Brad Kalil, with association president Dave Rousse moderating the online session.
