'Feminine hygiene' and 'sanitary napkin' terms no more in New York – Times-Union

ALBANY, NY, November 24, 2023-

Terms women and girls have known for generations to explain what they use while on their periods — feminine hygiene products and sanitary napkins — are no more in New York, at least not in terms of being mentioned in New York law.

Following passage in the state Legislature, Gov. Kathy Hochul signed legislation this month that changes those terms to “menstrual products” in an effort to eliminate the implicit bias in words that suggests periods are “dirty.”
