RISI study: Growing nonwovens markets face uncertainty over costs for raw materials

BOSTON, October 19, 2016-

Found in thousands of products, from baby wipes and hospital gowns to carpets and automobiles, nonwoven materials are in high demand worldwide. Even as year-over-year nonwovens output keeps growing, profit and production forecasts are complicated by volatile markets for the materials used to make them. To address this uncertainty, RISI’s just-released Nonwovens Raw Materials Cost Outlook provides a three-year price forecast for five essential inputs for nonwovens production.

“The cost of making oil filters and diapers is directly affected by global markets for key petroleum- and plant-based materials,” explained David Allan, lead author of the new study and Editor of the RISI Nonwovens Markets newsletter.
