P&G to shut Ontario plant where Swiffer products are made

CLOVERDALE, CA, May 25, 2017-

Procter & Gamble will close its Brockville, Ontario plant and shift manufacturing of the Swiffer range and other products to a new facility in West Virginia, it announced yesterday. The closure could take place as early as 2020. The plant currently employs about 480 people.

According to local media reports, last year the company had said it would relocate a production line making about 30% of the Bounce products manufactured at Brockville to a plant in the United States. However, the reports added, at that point P&G indicated its intention to keep Brockville running.
